I’ve been building the Game of Thrones, Iron Throne for 4 months now and I am hoping I will get it finished by this weekend.
I’ve been working on and off it for so long. It’s looking amazing though but it’s just taken so much of my time that I need to get it completed.
When I make things, I always put 110% into everything I do. I love my work as you all know but sometimes, when you have been working on something for this long, you just want it finished and out of the way.
My official Studio opening is this weekend. 7.30pm at Revue Studios, Castle Square, Swansea on the 2nd of August. It’s meant to be an informal event so I’m trying to not get too stressed over it. Prop Maker Wales Grand Opening
It’s going to be a brilliant night and one I hope everyone will remember and enjoy for all the right reasons. Then next weekend all my props are being show cased in Margam Castle for the Heroes & Legends Autograph Show where my Game of Thrones Throne, my Star Ship Enterprise and a few other lovely and amazing items will be on display and some even for sale. I am so looking forward to it. We go every year and every year it emits well worth it 😀
Or is it? As you all know I am a prop maker. We use tools of all kinds such an sanders, drills, saws and many many other tools of the building, decorating and carpentry trade.
Yes I am a girl and yes I have long hair, long nails, wear make-up and batter my eye lids when needed but I am in the trade. I went into B&Q not so long ago to enquire about a trade card and when I asked the man behind the counter he just looked at me. He said “You have to be in the trade” I said “I know!” Grrrrrr
So I then went into toolstation and was wandering again how I was going to be treated but this time I was treated really well. They were so helpful and really nice , even though I was given some in-approving looks from some other men who looked at me like I really didn’t belong there.
Then I went into Travis Perkins and I was just stood there like I didn’t belong and all these men were just stood there looking at me, not happy at all but I took a deep breath and asked about Plywood. I new what I wanted so I new what to ask for. This I felt quite happy about. But then for some reason my trade card details wouldn’t show up so I felt really out of place.
Anyway, it’s all sorted now and I am now able to shop where I want at trade prices. This make a huge difference because the materials I have to use can get really expensive. I’m now really looking forward to working with my plywood now 😀
I havnt long come back from the studio this evening. So tired but I managed to get loads done. I have finished applying the lights to the Thundercats logo and all is now ready to be painted around the sides and the back. I have also started to add the rest of the Star Ship Enterprise I am making. It hasn’t been easy but we do love a challenge. So tomorrow it will be to carry of adding pieces and to also finish painting the logo. Then it is into the Star Trek logo. No rest for the very wicked he he he
The opening of my studio is in just under 5 weeks. It’s going by so fast. I still have so much to finish and time is catching up with me.
We had some amazing news yesterday though, Stand up Comic Tommy G will be performing on the night. Plus we will have a few exciting guests to watch out for too. My goodness I’m nervous. I just really hope it all goes well and we have a good turn out of guests.
The list for my to do list is getting longer and longer. I have just ordered my dress which was cheep but very nice. Most of the bottles of bubbly are ordered now it’s just a few things to put together and also the food. I just want everyone to enjoy them selfs and behave lol. Some of my guests will be new faces I’m looking forward to meeting and some will be long time friends. It is a really exciting time for Prop Maker Wales. This year had been brilliant so far 😀

Today my 4 year old and me decided to make some things out of air drying clay. He is as creative as his Mum. While I was busy playing with clay and making a new sword hilt, he was busy making burgers and then decided a bowl would be better.
I love the way they turned out. The first bowl was just us both playing and then the second he used the base of his cup and moulded it around the bottom. Then as a finishing touch, I wrote his name on the side so it will forever be his. I wander what we will make next he he.
The sword hilt I made was one I found on Google images. See if you can guess who’s it is? I really enjoyed making this one. It is now out in the sunshine drying along with Harry’s 2 bowls. Trying to keep myself busy but not work too hard after having a small op last Wednesday. I’m praying I can go back to work on Wednesday and carry on making my big sign 😉
It will soon be apon us, Panto Time. It’s strange isn’t it that I’m talking about this and it’s only June but has anyone else noticed how fast time is flying this year? It’s crazy but I will soon be building sets apon sets for stage and I’m so excited about it.
I’ve been off from work since Tuesday last week and it’s driving me crazy. I’ve had a small op done and I’m not aloud to be in work for 5 days so I’m just itching to get back in the studio.
As a new business it’s very hard to get off the ground but you still hope that it will and pray you won’t go it alone. Well I have been in my studio for 4 months now and I just love it. Proper paid work is extremely slow but that’s what happens. At the moment I’m just concentrating on getting the Prop Maker Wales name out there. I still have so much to learn though because incase you didn’t already know, I am all self taught. Not bad for a woman who became a Mum at the age of 18 and is now 34.
Some people have said “why are you doing this? What do you think you will achieve?” Well I’m doing this because I love it and have done for a year and a half, and I’m hoping to become far more skilled in this field and also pass on my skills and talents to students. I want to expand. Do well as a business. To me it’s not about the money, and it never will be. It’s about being known for doing well and spending my life making my kids and myself proud. I love it and I will continue to love it for a very long time to come.
I have a very busy year now, but first I am off for a week for a little op. Then it’s back to work all systems go till Christmas.
My shift in the studio today was busy making more hilts for the Iron Throne. I managed to get 4 more made before I had a visitor called Matthew. Such a sweetie as he knows him and his friend Tom are welcome to visit any time they wish but next time I may get them to get their hands dirty with a bit of air drying clay making lol.
I have built a de different famous sword hilts, see if you can take a guess at them. The pictures are not that good I’m afraid. Not studio tomorrow as it’s shut but I’m back in on Saturday.
In the mean time today, we went to visit Audrey 2 at the Gwyn Hall in Neath and my boys had a picture with her. She’s looking amazing and so many people have said they have booked tickets to see the play which is brilliant. Keep them coming. We want this show sold out!!!!!
I’m back in my studio tomorrow evening. I’m so excited. I have got soooooo much to get finished over the next 2 months that it is going to be my biggest challenge yet.
I need to pace myself as best as I can though, because other wise I am going to run myself into the ground and this will not do.
I’ve had my relaxing break and am feeling really refreshed for the next 2 months. Watching this space friends because there is far more to come 😉
She is finished. Oh how I love saying that. I am so thrilled with her she’s brilliant. The colours are vibrant and eye catching as a promotional piece, and she is big and small enough to be a table top piece. She was completed in about 20 hours in total.
Our Audrey has a purple tongue and ivory blood stained teeth and very bright eye catching colours as an advertising piece. I have used the style from the film and also from the production poster of the play it’s self.
I am very pleased with it. Now all I have to do is get her to the show on time lol 😀
